How Donating Works

Provide your zip code in the search bar at the top of the page, and we will connect you with local nonprofits that accept donations.

Describe your items
Fill out the quick form describing the items you’d like to donate, answer a few questions about the condition that they are in, and provide your contact information.
Pick three days
The last step is to request three pickup times that work for you. Note that this does not guarantee a pickup, but helps the nonprofit understand when you have availability.
Submit and wait
That’s it! Once you submit the form, we will send the request to eligible nonprofits in your area and they will reach out within 48 hours if they would like to pick up your donation!

Why a Pickup Beats the Curb
Furniture and household goods left at the curb go to a landfill. The same items, collected by a nonprofit thrift store, get resold, and the sale pays for the programs that store exists to fund. The dollar figure near the top of this page is the value donors have sent to nonprofits through this site since 2012.

Free pickup is available where a nonprofit partner runs a truck, and the cities below each have at least one. Enter your zip code at the top of the page and the form checks your address. The match depends on what you’re donating, its condition and how close the nearest partner is, so not every request gets a free pickup. Where no nonprofit can come, Priority Pickup pairs you with a local hauler who quotes a fee before you book.

Who Will Pick Up Your Donation?
A local nonprofit, if one near you can use what you have. Since 2012 we have routed donation requests to nonprofit thrift stores and rescue missions that run their own trucks. Here is what happens after you submit.
- We send your request to the partners that pick up in your zip code, sometimes several at once so it gets seen sooner.
- Each partner checks what you listed against what it can sell and where its truck is going that week.
- A partner that can take your items contacts you within about 48 hours to set a time. If you need a donation receipt, ask them on that call.
No free partner nearby?
Some areas have no nonprofit truck, and some items, like mattresses and damaged upholstery, no nonprofit will take. Priority Partners are local haulers who pick up for a fee quoted before you book and deliver usable items to a nonprofit.
